...On June 20, 1966, Doctor LASCAR, (Paris) founded SOS MÉDECINS. His decision followed a trajic event : one of his patients died of a heart attack because he was not able to contact a Doctor on a Saturday afternoon.
Paradoxically, Doctor LASCAR said : "My bathroom had flooded the weekend before and an employee from SOS DÉPANNAGE (emergency repairs) came right away to fix the problem". Convinced that people's health was more valuable than mere pipes, he decided to create SOS MÉDECINS.
At a time when the SAMU (emergency service) did not exist, the concept was revolutionary. SOS MÉDECINS France has now Associations and their doctors have carried out millions of medical visits...
